July 4th weekend

Favorite Fin quote of the week:

(he burps) "Oh geez, I think I'm having big beer burps just like Daddy does..."

Elle watching her first fireworks!

We met our friends Cary and Maya with their little boy Noah at Civic Center Park on the 3rd. The display is amazing and the Colorado Symphony plays all evening as well. We were very sad that Nathan had to be out of town for gigs all weekend however. I think Fin appreciated getting to sit on Cary's lap while I was holding Ellie!

Sitting in the Cortese's bike trailer waiting for the show to start

On the 4th Nathan got back home and we got to go to his gig with him! He played in Broomfield (a northern suburb of Denver) They had a very nice little festival and Fin had SO much fun playing with the other "band kids". I was so fortunate to get to sit with the other saxophone players wife Jessica (who is expecting). We get along great and she was such a help with the kids. We had a great time!

Well except the part where Fin wanted to go to the "Jumpy Rides"... We wait in a 10 minute line for a wristband - he goes in the bounce house, only to come straight back out, claiming "that is WAY to fasty for me!" So onto the big blowup slides (another 15 minute wait) and we use our time to have a long talk about whether he really wants to do this. So his turn comes around and the worker has to help him up the big ladder. He sits at the top of the slide and freaks out. Bad. They have to go up and just shove him down the slide, crying and blubbering. I felt so bad. Luckily once he was down he settled down pretty quickly. I guess we'll wait another year before trying that one again...

How Ellie spent most of the afternoon

But she woke up just in time to see the show

Music over, the guys got to come join us before the fireworks started!

Daddy and Elle enjoying the lights

About halfway through the display Fin turned into a crazy man. Running around like a maniac. He was wild and even ripped his shirt off!

Pretending to have a "baby belly"

Stopped running for a second to pause and give Sissy and hug (this actually got a little intense and had to be broken up...)

I think he was a little partied out the next morning. Woke up looking a little rough at 10 AM! Asked to wear my robe and relax a little :)

Happy 4th!!! :)

This week

Ellie in her pink Hawkeyes outfit for Fathers Day.

Running through sprinklers with friends at Cheeseman park. SO FUN!

This is what I get when I ask for a smile. Nice.

Grabbing a quick hug from Sissy before heading back to the playground!

Making new friends

Seriously. The most beautiful girl in the world :)

Oh my word, he takes after his mother is the ridiculous fake picture smile department...

Plum tuckered after a wonderful day and looong walk in the heat.

Today we walked up the the Denver Art Museum after a Barista at Starbucks told us she had spotted our picture in the elevator there! (Yes Fin and I are ridiculously famous here in Colorado) Here is the poster they have (so funny it's from about 2 years ago, I had completely forgotten they took our pictures at all!)

These are the fountains outside the museum, we have been up here playing in them every other day. Wonderful day :)

More Pictures

My favorite Sundress. This is from umm, maybe March?

Mr. Handsome

I think this is from quite awhile ago as well, Nathan looks veeeery serious :)

He climbed this tree all by himself (actually, no of course I'm kidding) But I was trying to recreate a picture I have from when I was his age. I think he pulled it off better than me ;)

We got her big tub of clothes out and she was doing a modeling session for me

This is a pic from the ER when he was having the weird "seizure" attacks. Yuck. He thought the Dr. set was pretty sweet though. We still play Dr. office all the time. But we don't have a pretend Dr. kit so the stethoscope/otoscope/reflex hammer thing/ light shiner/ tongue depressor is played by a spatula. (Hey, he's very creative)

Enjoying frosting by the fingerfull
Awful head wound. He was hugging another little boy and fell into the corner of a wall. This picture is from the ER after they'd put some numbing jelly on it before they cleaned it all out and glued it togther. He was so good through the whole thing! He didn't want to sit in the room while we waited for the gel to work so he sat in the hall watching the automatic door. He thought it was hilarious that they could open by themselves, so everytime someone came into the ER they were greeted by this nightmare looking child just cracking up laughing. He's an odd one, but I love him.

First corn on the cob. It's raw, he had to eat it right in the store. Seriously he picked it as his "treat" for being a good boy while I shopped!

Playing so nicely together

She is so happy that she can play a little! This area at the Village is so nice because it's very padded.

Riding the caterpillar.

He had to hold baby sister right away when he woke up. He is so sweet to her (esp. in the morning for some reason?) Maybe she just hasn't annoyed him yet. A couple of days ago he got up and went in to get her from our bed. He grabbed her hands and pulled her up to sitting. Gave her a big hug and kiss and pat on the back saying "I really just love you Ellie" and then cupped her chin and looked into her eyes and said "You just have BEAUTIFUL eyes sissy". Awwww....
